Monroe SC2958 Rear Magnum Axle Shaft Damper Drive Axle Shaft Damper Ford Explorer, Mercury Mountaineer
Monroe Axle Dampner Cylinder.
The rear axle dampner typically does not wear out as fast as a shock, it does not get the same abuse as a shock abosorber or strut.
It's a slow gradual movement, and only goes back an forth a few inches. However, most Customers prefer to change the cylinder at the sametime they do their shocks as preventive maintenance.
You must ALREADY HAVE A FACTORY dampner on the vehicle to use this replacement cylinder. It is not an "add-on" part.
On Fords, this cylinder is mounted to the rear axle pumpkin. (simply looking underneath the vehicle will indicate if you have one or not).
