Since its debut in 1998, the Lincoln Navigator has been available with a load adjusting, self-leveling air suspension. Navigator 2WD models use a rear air suspension, while 4WD models have four corner air leveling (both front and rear). If you tow or often carry a load in your Lincoln Navigator we recommend replacing your air suspension components and keeping the air leveling system operational instead of converting to coil spring suspension. The air suspension on Lincoln Navigators was designed to provide towing and hauling capacity but also a soft, comfortable ride during normal driving. Because the conversion kits sold are designed to strike a balance between the softest ride and towing capacity, if you convert your Navigator a coil spring suspension you may find that the rear of the Lincoln Navigator sags down several inches when you tow or carry a heavy load. If you just use the Lincoln Navigator as a daily driver and do not tow, a conversion kit that removes the Navigator's air suspension and uses a more simple coil spring setup can save you a considerable amount of money. They are very reliable and cost effective as well as being easy to install.
