KYB Strut-Plus combines an Excel-G strut with application-specific spring and mounting components in a ready-to-install assembly. It offers a practical alternative to transferring aging hardware from an old strut when restoring suspension control on a compatible vehicle.
An assembly built around Excel-G damping
The Excel-G strut provides the assembly’s damping function, controlling spring movement as the wheel reacts to bumps. Strut-Plus is intended for replacement and restoration rather than universal lowering or leveling. Choosing the correct assembly matters because spring specification, mounting arrangement, and damping calibration depend on the vehicle application.
More than a replacement strut
Depending on the application, the assembly includes a new coil spring, upper mount, bearing plate, insulators, spring seat, isolators, protective boot, and travel-limiting bumper. Replacing these components together addresses more than worn damping alone. A tired bearing or deteriorated isolator can remain a problem when only the strut cartridge is renewed.
Why preassembly changes the job
The spring arrives installed on the replacement assembly, so a spring compressor is not needed to assemble that unit. This avoids transferring the old compressed spring and helps reduce assembly mistakes. Vehicle lifting, fastener access, correct torque procedures, and any required alignment work still demand appropriate tools and safe workshop practices.
Check the complete application
Match year, model, trim, suspension equipment, and installation side before selecting Strut-Plus. An assembly that resembles the original is not necessarily interchangeable. Inspect nearby steering and suspension parts during replacement, and follow the vehicle’s alignment requirements afterward. New struts cannot compensate for loose joints, damaged tires, or incorrect tire pressure.
