SuperSprings and SumoSprings: Compare Load Support

SumoSprings and SuperSprings are different suspension-support products. SumoSprings are micro-cellular urethane helpers; SuperSprings are auxiliary support for rear leaf-spring suspensions. Other products in the range serve coil springs, trailers or overload-leaf engagement. Match the support method to the suspension, not just to the brand name.

Choose the right product type

Product Construction or function Important distinction
SumoSprings Micro-cellular urethane with density variations Supplemental support; select by application, not color alone.
Trailer SumoSprings Micro-cellular support for trailer applications Trailer-specific selection, not a pickup-kit substitute.
Coil SumoSprings Insert fitted between turns of a coil spring Works with a supported existing coil spring.
SuperSway Stops Dense urethane support for specified top-overload/air-spring setups Requires the appropriate overload configuration.
SuperCoils Heavy-duty steel replacement coil springs Replaces the original coil rather than supplementing it.
SuperSprings Auxiliary support with roller shackles for rear leaf springs Application and preload setup must match.

Micro-cellular urethane support

SumoSprings as material containing many small air cells, with different colors indicating densities for different purposes. Support and engagement depend on the application and selected product. A color is not a universal fitment code, and a helper spring is not an inflatable air bag.

Coil inserts and trailer products have different installation contexts from frame-mounted helpers. Follow the exact dimensions and instructions. Do not transfer a support percentage or load value between product types.

Leaf-spring helpers versus replacement coils

SuperSprings provide self-adjusting auxiliary support for rear leaf springs using roller shackles. Shackle designs offer one, two or three bolt-hole positions for preload adjustment; actual configuration must be verified for the selected kit.

SuperCoils replace factory coil springs and use a linear or constant spring rate. They are not the same as Coil SumoSprings inserts. A proposed combination of components requires its own application and installation checks rather than automatic approval from this overview.

Support does not increase vehicle ratings

A load-support accessory does not raise GVWR, GAWR, payload or towing limits. Additional spring support is not additional rated carrying capacity. Confirm the correct product specification and keep the vehicle within its original ratings.

Inspect worn springs, dampers and mounts first. Choose the kit for actual loaded conditions and check required mounting hardware or installation tools. Sway and sag can have several causes; no helper is a guaranteed cure for every handling symptom.

Frequently asked questions

Are SuperCoils and Coil SumoSprings the same?

No. SuperCoils replace the original coil springs; Coil SumoSprings are inserts used with supported existing coils.

Can I select SumoSprings by color alone?

No. Density colors describe material variants, but the exact application, product and installation requirements determine suitability.

Will helper springs increase my towing rating?

No. Additional suspension support does not change the vehicle manufacturer’s weight, axle, payload or towing ratings.
