Monaco Koni RV Shocks
KONI shock selection for a Monaco motorhome follows the chassis, suspension layout, model year, and axle position. Four-bag, eight-bag, and ten-bag Roadmaster configurations do not share one universal shock package, even when the coaches carry familiar Monaco model names.
Identify the suspension before choosing a series
Record the chassis designation and air-bag count before comparing KONI options. RM4C, R4R, and RR4R entries belong to the four-bag group, while other Roadmaster listings use eight or ten bags. Coach names such as Ambassador, Cayman, Knight, and Neptune still require the matching chassis identification.
Keep front and rear assignments separate
The listed four-bag combinations pair an EVO front shock with an FSD rear shock. Other Roadmaster groups use different FSD front and rear references. A mixed-series pairing can therefore be intentional; choosing the same series name for every position is not a substitute for following the application.
Include the tag axle
Ten-bag configurations include a separate tag-axle position in the application information. Count every shock location before ordering a coach-wide replacement. A part number appearing at both rear and tag positions does not remove the need to establish how many dampers the specific chassis uses.
Treat damping as part of ride control
Appropriate shocks manage suspension movement over highway joints, campground approaches, and rolling pavement. They do not correct air leaks, incorrect ride height, worn bushings, or alignment problems. Check those conditions first, then use the chassis-specific listing to choose the intended KONI damping package.
