SuperSteer Chassis Control Guide
SuperSteer radius rods are built for specific RV chassis to limit unwanted fore-and-aft axle movement. That is a different job from controlling body roll with a sway bar or side-to-side axle movement with a trac bar.
Fore-and-aft axle motion during braking, acceleration and road inputs.
Unwanted axle movement can contribute to delayed steering response and a chassis that feels unsettled under braking.
Radius rods are chassis-specific structural components. Confirm axle, frame mounts, year and GVWR before ordering.
Leaf-spring suspensions locate the axle as well as support the vehicle. Under load, the springs and bushings can allow some fore-and-aft movement. A properly fitted radius-rod system adds a more direct locating link for that axis of movement.
Because the rod affects axle location through suspension travel, bracket position, fastener torque and clearance are critical. It should not bind the suspension or interfere with brake lines, exhaust, leveling equipment or other aftermarket components.
It limits fore-and-aft axle movement relative to the chassis.
No. A trac bar controls lateral axle movement. A radius rod controls longitudinal, or fore-and-aft, movement.
No. A sway bar resists body roll by linking left and right suspension movement.
No. Worn bushings, hangers and mounting points must be repaired first.
Not by the coach name alone. Confirm the chassis, year, axle and bracket configuration.
Use the Year, Make, Model selector in the site header when the vehicle or chassis is supported. Read every application note before ordering. If the configuration is unclear, use the technical support form with the vehicle or coach details and photos of the existing suspension.
